We appreciate your assistance in arranging for accommodations for the choir and tour staff! The choir is made up of:
• 20 Ugandan children – ages 8 through 11
• 7-8 adult chaperones
The choir and tour staff is a family unit unto itself, with the adult chaperones as the “aunties” and “uncles”. Our foremost concern during the tour is for the children’s safety, security and total welfare. To help ensure this, we request that our chaperones be housed with the children. This allows the children to be with adults they know to provide a more stable environment should a child need special attention or just the familiar face of an “auntie” or “uncle”.
Suggested Host Family Arrangements
Host family arrangements depend on the final girl/boy mix of the choir. Typically, there are more girls in the choir than boys. Each host home should expect to accommodate three children, all of the same sex, and an adult chaperone.
Other Information
• Two children sleep easily in one double bed and they like to sleep that way. They will also be comfortable on a sofa or cot. Please provide separate beds for the adult chaperones if possible.
• We require at least one pet-free host family home as some of the children and staff may have allergies or fear of animals, particularly dogs.
• A minimum of 2 children must be sent to a host home with an adult chaperone. The children sent to each home will generally be of the same sex.
• Typically, the children will be returned to the church at 10:00 a.m. on the morning after a concert and 9:00 a.m. if there was not a concert the night before. Please select host families that are able to keep
the children until these times so that they will be fully rested. Those that must leave early for work or to take their own children to school or those who live more than 45 minutes from the concert site may not be eligible to host the children.
• Please note that there may be changes made to your host family assignments and schedule per our Tour Director’s discretion due to circumstances within the choir.
